The Arcata Community Pool is a non-profit agency offering year-round recreational and educational activities and the best environment on the North Coast in terms of water quality, cleanliness, customer service, and educational services.
The Arcata Community Pool is located at 1150 16th Street, next to Arcata High School, just three blocks off the Arcata and Mad River Transit bus line and within walking distance of HSU. Recently renovated, our pool has several features you are sure to enjoy!
Each of these renovations was installed with your continued satisfaction in mind. The Arcata Community Pool is dedicated to updating and maintaining our facility to provide you with the highest quality pool experience.
UV System: This state of the art UV water treatment system is optimally used for chloramine reduction, but an additional benefit is decreased reliance on chlorine for disinfection, as UV is itself a powerful disinfectant. By eliminating chloramines, the byproduct of chlorine, eye and respiratory irritations are limited.
Pool Bottom: This sleek-smooth bottom gives our pool an updated look. Made of PVC vinyl, this bottom is softer on the feet than standard plaster lined pools.
Locker Rooms: The locker and shower areas are covered with the same PVC vinyl that covers our pool bottom. Foam soap dispensers and timed shower units have been installed with the conservation of natural resources in mind.
Sand Stone Deck: The slip-resistant sand stone deck covers the entire pool deck.
Hot Tub and Sauna Area: Located on our patio, the hot tub and sauna can give you the relaxing experience you've been dreaming of. Our hot tub is regulated between 102 to 104 degrees and the Sauna from 160 to 180 degrees. Our patio also includes two BBQ pits, picnic tables, and lounge chairs for the use of social gatherings. Patrons must be 18 years of age to enjoy the use of these facilities.
Aerobic/Weight Room: We offer several aerobic machines, including: 2 Life Fitness Treadmills, Elliptical trainer, Spinnaker Recumbent Bike, Lifecycle Bike, 11-Station Weight Circuit, 2 Stairmasters, Graviton. Upper Body Machine, and 2 Dumbbell Sets. We also have a small stretching area with a multi-purpose ball. This room is open to all who are 18 years of age and older. If you need an orientation of our equipment, our staff will gladly provide one.
The Arcata Pool has four main areas, allowing different programs to occur at the same time.
Lap Lanes: Each of our six lap lanes are a standard 25-yard short course, which range from 4 to 7 feet deep.
Slide Area: Our slide offers a ride length of 122 feet with two 360-degree turns - the only one of its kind in Humboldt County. Below the slide is our only restricted zone, so please mind the barriers.
Shallow Area: The shallow pool area ranges from 2 to 4 feet deep and allows young ones to play freely where their feet can touch the bottom.
Deep Area: Ranging from 7 to 12 feet deep, the deep area features a 1-meter diving board and basketball hoop. This area allows all ages to enjoy activities that require deep water. If you are under 18, you'll have to take a swim test!
